Bhajans [196-; HMV; 7EPE 1268]

no image for this either, sry. fwiw, this is pretty real, pretty early, pretty rare as far as these things go. the first two are super cool. this is seriously the least amount of info i can find about any of these albums so far. this dude, Bhimsen (Bheemsen) Joshi, would go on to become nationally renowned for devotional recordings such as these, although this appears pretty early.

Some discrepancy exists as that site, a wonderful reference, lists the release date as 1962, however the label on the record identifies "Recording First Published 1965." so idk. kannada religious music from the early days of 45s right here, regardless.

Side 1:
Enna Paliso Karunakara - Bheemsen Joshi
Karunakar Nee Nembuyuvadyatako - Bheemsen Joshi

Side 2:
Sada Enna Haridayadalli - Bhimsen Joshi
Bhagvada Lakshmi - Bheemsen Joshi

the bottom of side 2 contains:

lovely review at imdb:
Jab Dard Nahin Tha Seene Mein, Tab Khaak Maza Tha Jeene Mein (When there was no feeling of pain in my heart, what the hell was the pleasure of living). Sounds impractical ? It is. Surprisingly it is very much practical for the true artists whose art gets refined only through the pain in their hearts.

As much as I love everything that came out of Mumbai, my heart really lives in Karnataka. I couldn't find really anything about any of the players involved with making the movie or the recordings but the sounds really hit that magical place right between classical style and popular playback awesomeness (the vocals in part-1 especially). This record was really hit when I got it but I think the music shines through. If you hear too many digital artifacts please let me know, I really pushed it trying to clean it up.

This track is from the same movie but is not on this pressing. The makeup in this is really, really cool but check out the 2:30 mark for one of the better breakdowns you can find in playback music.
